Default Bluebird on Twig in Meadow

In an attempt to break out of what I perceive to be my 'textbook image' doldrums, I visualized this as a 'sense of
    place' photograph.

It is an eastern bluebird in a New Jersey meadow taken this week. It is a moderate crop in the lower center of the frame.

I like the background. You could use a bit more head turn.

I like this environmental setting and pose. You handled the harsh light well and a bit more head turn would have been great. What ISO did you use?

    Thanks, guys!

    Axel, the ISO was 1250.

You achieved your goal. The color stands out well with that BG.

Beautiful, Bill. The inclusion of habitat, the perky pose of the bird and the bent stick that he's perched add interest. Good thinking, I like your break-out.

I really like what you are trying to achieve here. A better head turn, and a bit more of a crop at right (to eliminate the two tall intersecting branches near the edge) would really make this a great one.

    Thanks David, Grace and Daniel!

Daniel I agree about the crop at the right. I went back and forth about that when processing the image, and elected to expand that side. However, when I print the photo, I will indeed act on your suggestion. Thank-you.
