Assignment: Out Of Camera Unprocessed - “A Watchful Eye”

This is out of the camera RAW (12-bit) to JEPG.

This little guy was watching his next meal at Anhinga Trail in Florida’s Everglades National Park. He was painted with a Nikon D70s, using a Nikkor AF-S 300mm f/4D - IF-ED , with a Nikkor 1.7 T/C.

    Image solution:
    focal length @ 765mm / exposure mode @ shutter priority / in camera matrix metering / ISO @ 500 / 1/320sec. - f/5.6 / white balance @ auto / AF - mode @ dynamic range, auto - continuous / color space @ sRGB /lighting solution - no speedlight, ambient light / exposure comp @ +0.7EV / tone comp @ 0 degree / hue adjustment @ 0 degree / saturation factor @ 0 degree / support platform - no tripod, hand held /

    Comments greatly appreciated...

I love the colors on the bird Gus,
    the composition is great,
HA needs just a bit toward camera
the pale plant in BG is distracting,
    easily darkened in PP...
    Nice work, overall...

Hi Gus - exposure looks dead on to me - love the amount of feather detail you have here.

Lovely colours and exposure Gus. Looks like about 2 minutes of PP. Even like the leaves in the BG pointing up towards the beak.

Agree on the head angle and twist head relationship :eek:OMG :D Like seeing the head parallel to the film plane if possible !!!

This is a good example of trying to predict the bg, Would try moving the bird to avoid those line by the beak which btw can be soften during processing ... I just like saving time.
