This photo of a white-winged scoter was taken last week. I took many others but am attracted to this image because both eyes show real well -- and the white rings call attention to them. The image is heavily cropped (I was far away), because I had no more reach with my lens. Please C&C . . .

    Hi Wendell,
I like the capture, the eye contact is dead on...I suggest on a boost in saturation and contrast, also try a pano crop and see how it feel to you...

Just the heavy crop is hurting here Wendell Might increase the contrast a bit more, blacks are not really strong !!! Nice looking duck !!!

HI Wendell - the large crop is the problem - bird seems to be lacking detail in the body area on my screen. Gus suggestions are worth a go.

Love that "right at you" stare! I'm not sure about this, but the image appears to have a green/yellow cast. There's also a halo around the top and sides of the subject ... possibly from S/H filter?

Thanks, David, for your amendments and re-posts of my image. i do think it looks better without the green/yellow cast. And you are right in guessing I used the S/H filter. I have profited from both suggestions. By the way, I took a look at your very interesting personal site -- beautiful retouches!

Thank you ... if only I could produce the images that you do from the camera! :)
