Very nice Jeff, I would lighten around the eye area a bit. Love the muted BG and the colours on your bird. Flash looks good, you haven't overdone it.

Wow. What a beautiful bird this is. You did very well with the lighting. I agree about lightening up around the eye but that's the only nit I see. Excellent exposure.

Nice one Jeff. Those slightly bright patches in the BG are a little dominant I feel. I am not sure why Jackie suggests to post at 240 ppi for web. I may be totally wrong, but having devoured Artie's ABPII (on CD only :D ) he suggests to use 96ppi for web. If Al or Gus could chip in and suggest something that may have changed that'd be great. :)

Nice clean BG, good detail in this bird, not easy! Might want to tone down the white patch on the breast just a tich..Really, really nice!

This has a very good feel to it Jeff,
I like the placement of the bird in frame, the color rendition is very good, and the head angle and eye contact is spot on...my only suggestion would be to lighten the area around the eye...good show...

Regarding the resolution. When I go to web save, I always reduce the "Bicubic %" (B%) to less than 100% to fit under the 200K threshold. As a result of reducing the B%, it seems the resolution drops to something less than 240.

In my last post, I reduced the B% to around 50%, this drove the file size less than 200k, with Very High selected in the drop down box and quality around 80, I was able to create a file size <200k.. I did not realize this had reduced the resolution to 72.

I would to know what others do to reduce the file size in web-save and how can one tell (go to image size?). I have read the APB comments as well and was wondering how others drive the reduction in file size and keep the resolution at optimal size.

Would forget the PPI altogether When you specify 800 pixels across that is what you are going to get ... will make no difference if you say 72, 96 or 360 !!!!

For saving it is better to save for web and specify the file size you want. Downsizing you should use bicubic sharper.

I like the image a lot, you did get good shadow detail and looks mighty fine to me. The bg is complementing and only wish the light areas were not there !!! Really nice Jeff !!!

Hi Jeff - gorgeous bird - exposure and flash use is really good - as pointed out might just tone down the white area on the front of the breast a bit. Ligheten the eye a bit and your good to go.

Bright area's in the BG are what they are.

    Keep em comimg :)

Jeff, very nice work here and I love the overall feel of the image. The bright areas in the BG and the bird are competing for your eye with the very dark area around the eye. Darkening the eye was the wrong way to go here, and the catch light could be brighter. Would suggest selecting the highlights, saving to a new layer, and setting the blend mode to multiply. Composition is excellent and the bird is beautiful! Nice work with the flash.
