During the winter months, Eagles on the Upper Mississippi seek open water for fish - dead or alive. This image was taken at Colville Park in Red Wing this past Sunday. There were between 30-40 Bald Eagles in the vicinity but action was fairly slow. The colder the temp, the more active the birds. This bird was coming in to look over a dead fish near shore. the sun was at 90 degrees to my left and the sky was hazy. So, bright hazy sky and a subject with a white head and a dark body. I did not use exposure comp for this image but tried it later in the afternoon - it didn't seem to help much.
This image is slightly cropped, brightened and sharpened a bit. The eye is slightly OOF and I couldn't seem to improve focus.

When photographing birds from the bottom remember the wings are in the shade needing the extra exp Love the pose Would crop some !!!
