Another image from my trip to the Kruger National Park this week. The bee-eaters were nesting in the banks of the Levhuvhu River and posed beautifully on the surrounding twigs. I removed a few distracting twigs from the background.

Three good head angles! Sharp, well exposed, the diagonal compostion works very well for me. Pleasent background. I agree with Ron about the leaf touching the head of the top bird..
You must be a bird whisperer! Another case of really well handled sidelight; heads at great angles for eye contact and the light not to mention open beaks. Love the diagonol composition. The leaf doesn't bother me and I love the BG (except for the blue patch in the LLC, it draws my eye).
Great to have three perfect head angles and open bills. I also like the composition, light and details. Another vote for the removal of the one leaf touching the bird's head.
Did you switch to Nikon permanently and do you think the D3 works noticeably better than the 1D3?
Chris,
Excellent shot. I think that everything works here. I've never seen one of these let alone three on the same branch. I love the head angles and the open beaks. Very sharp and the very nice Bokeh in the bg.
Thanks for the comments and suggestions guys! Axel, I have not yet made up my mind about switching. The D3 is an awesome camera, and the VR lenses are tack sharp. Both systems have their quirks, but I have to say that the AF on the D3 is best that I have ever come across on any camera. I will be doing some more work with the Nikon system in the next week or so before I make a final decision.
Thanks again for the comments guys. Dave I got a few more frames with the open bills, actually the birds were thermo-regulating, therefore the open bills, it was quite a hot day.
