Default First IR post - Lake Okareka

Just completed IR conversion of a retired D70s with a Lifepixel filter this morning. Image from a trip up the road this evening - sun was setting so only warmth was on the trees on the hills in the BG. I like the colour and textures in the reeds, water, hills and sky. Looking forward to more experimenting.

Although I'm still new to the IR shooting myself, I'll say that the post processing here really looks good. It's a beautiful scene. My thoughts would be to remove a touch from the left side, and clone out the small stump, or debri in the lower part of the water. Just my thoughts. I really like it.

Tony, The lake looks fantastic! I second the eviction of the black thing in the water(duck?) I really like the colors here-

I like Dave's suggestion of cropping in some from the left. IR can certainly be fun. Very nice work on the false colors.

Nice capture, I am most envious. I don't have an extra body to convert (yet) and the IR blocking on my Canon is to strong to produce anything via an R72. I have tried many times.....

Thanks for the comments and encouragement. The little dark thing is a resting duck (more obvious at higher res.) Paul, my experience with the D70 is that it is a relatively easy DIY job if you can find a 2nd hand one for a reasonable price with the kit lens.

Beautiful aqua tones, Tony! I agree with the crop and black removal suggestions. Would also suggest maybe a little more tonal range in the reeds at the front. Maybe selectively burn/dodge a few throughout to give that area more eye appeal. The texture it gives to the image is wonderful but would love to see a little more to hold my eye there.

welcome to the IR world. this is an example where I really dig the color IR. I'd simply try to brighten up the shadows a bit in the foreground and on the background on the left

Excellent image, Tony. Is this the Enhanced Color IR filter from Life Pixel?

Thanks for the comments. I think the suggestions are great and will spend a bit of time reworking the image. Ed, this is just the Lifepixel standard colour IR filter.
