    Hi Guys,
I thought I'd share this you, I know Ospreys are as cheap as chips in florida but over here they are pretty rare. We stayed in a house in Kissimee last November with a mini lake to the rear and this chap pitched up most evenings, alas when the light was all but gone. Anyway, one night he decided to clean up and I was staggered at the length of his 'skim'. Photo is not up to much but it shows enough of the story, I'd seen this behavoiur a couple of times before in the highlands of Scotland but never this close, amazing!

Hi Chris- so the bird was coming in to land on the pond where it would roost for the night?

    Hi John,
No, the bird was cleaning itself, they are well known for flying along with their talons dragging in the water, presumably cleaning them. Roosting, no, it pitched up hunted and then flew off. No hunting on this occasion just the cleaning.

Cool capture of this behavior. I've never seen this in the field.

This is one of the many reasons why I come to BPN. Where else do you get such mind blowing behavior images, artfully done posts and an on staff ornithologist no less.

This behavior is amazing! I never knew they did this. Looks like he is having fun.
