Following Alexander's wonderful image of a female pheasant, I had to post a portrait of a male, made this winter under my feeder. I think they make a nice couple. The spots here and there are melted snow.

    John:

Very effective head shot. The beak and eye are nice and sharp, I love the reflection of your house in the eye. The colors look true, I like the texture in the red patch. It would have been very easy to blow the red channel on this fellow I think.

Your flash use was very unobtrusive, just like I like it.

    Cheers

Very nice portrait John. I love and appreciate the detail as I have never seen a male Pheasant up so close. The eye is stunning as is that red face patch. Thanks for posting. :)

John, nice portrait. My preference would be to see more of the neck. Great job on the reds as well.

I would've loved a bit more room, but the detail here is exceptional! Love the light and colors too. Congratulations!

Wonderful detail John! I too would go for a touch more space but I'd love to have this in my collection.

Do I see you reflected in his pupil? ;)

Wow, great detail here John, a neat portrait, maybe just a bit more room around the bird.
