I like the water very much,
the bird is a bit soft,
at 1/1600 most likely due to focus (AF-C?)
(unless the boat was rocking a lot:))
The light quality is quite nice on this one.

Good Capture Harold , you seem to be guilty of using the center sensor in this one as most of us are lol :)

Nice image Harold, looks a bit soft. I think you did good with the composition and exposure!! The water rocks!! (haha get it!!)

I think the light that seems to be reflecting in waves onto the body of the gull is quite interesting. I looked at the image for quite a while, trying to decide if the light on the body enhanced the image or distracted from it. I'm still not sure. The waves of warm light hint at a sunset, but the general bg doesn't support that. It would be fun to fool around with the bg to see if the whole image could be slanted into a sunset image.
    Thanks for posting this.
    Cheers

Good HA and eye contact H. Do agree with the sift comments on the bird.

Agree on the HA and being a bit soft..I see what Gail is talking about (light on the bird), rather interesting.

    I like this capture Doctor,
The only things needed are some minor tweaks, such as mid-tone adjustments to lighten just a tad, a slight increase in contrast, and a tad of saturation, not too much...congrats, I like the low capture angle...

Nice water, great (perfect) head angle. I would crop quite tightly and do some minor PP that would enhance this to its maximum potential. :)

I think once the bird is sharpened in PS should look a lot better ... will be interesting.

Sure like the ability to zoom and frame with that lens, big asset !!!

this was one that was never processed from the trip. not a better quality image, but i thought fairly well composed. i went back and checked the AF sensor point and it totally missed the bird. the point was two points above the center which placed it on the water above birds back.

thanks for the comments....i'll try to do better next time!!!

Hi Mr H - all points covered above - still not a lot to do to this shot.
