I personally do not use a neck strap anymore when using either of my Canon bodies. I did when I first started. However...if you want a good strap, go to your local guitar supplier and look at some leather straps. I've seen some really nice comfortable, and affordable, ones in some shops.

For added neck and shoulder support...... I like to use the Lowepro deluxe shoulder strap even though it is for camera bags. It is heavy duty and heavily padded.

I've been using Black Rapid since Christmas, I really like it. It has a small pouch for a spare battery and memory card.

Is anyone using the Black Rapid straps with a 500? Is it sturdy enough? JR

I use an Op/Tech Classic Strap. It stretches a bit which is great on longer walks. I have a second 'safety' strap on the camera body, just in case one of the two breaks.

Yes, it works on my camera bodies, 70-200, 300 f/2.8 and 500. I have an RRS clamp screwed to the strap and attach it to the lens foot. It would be right up Jim Nieger's alley for sure.

    Best,

    Chas
