Default Assignment -- SOC -- Gotcha

Taken early this morning. The light was soft (the sun was behind a cloud), so I didn't need to adjust EV for my photograph of this Great Egret fishing for breakfast. But I was pretty far away from the action; my lens reach was stretched to the max . . .

Hi Wendel - love the action and the water drops :) Head angle and pose works for me.

Would have liked to see you take this from a lower angle.

    keep them coming

Hi Wendell Check your histogram I think you will find the image underexposed !!!! With the conditions you should have been adding a little light !!! Let me know !!

You are exactly right, Alfred. In Lightroom I just now moved exposure to the right +1.32 on my histogram before the blinkies appeared on the image (on the top of the neck and the back). Would I have been better off to have added even that little bit of light rather than relying on post processing to "fix" the problem? And, as a general rule, am I better off over or under with my exposures?

    Hi Wendell,
I like the action captured...the image is slightly under exposed...the rest is fine, would sharpen the eye just a tad more...

Pretty cool image Wendell. The reflection is almost completely there, in fact you could fudge it a little and complete it in the PP. Well done! :)

I like Akos idea about adding to the reflection! Good action image

Good action shot. Like the water splash. Techs have already been addressed.
