Roy you got a good base image and will need very little work for processing !!!

In this case improvements would be a lower angle and having the light more form your back. Breast are is in shadows.

Processing wise just cropping to taste, Would soften the bg by selecting and applying some gaussian blur then increasing contrast a bit !!! I like whats coming out of the camera !!!!

    Hi Roy,
Lower angle like Lance tries to do. Also looks like you had side lighting here. Exposure looks good. One leaf in the BG looks hot??? Would tone it down a bit. Sharpness and colours look good. What kind of bird is this??

Hi Roy - agree with the comments above from AL - do try laying on the ground to shoot - you will be amazed at the difference it makes.
Good base image - not a lot of PP required - good show :)

I never noticed the shadows until you mentioned them. A lower angle would be better but it was toooo muddy:)
    Thanks for the encouragement.

Jackie, how would you tone down the hot leaf? It is a Towhee. Unusual posture though.

Roy I would burn at about 4 percent, one or two passes, you can go by eye or check the colour picker. I usually try to get the whites 242 or under.
