This Steenbok was sitting very quietly along side the road patiently letting us photograph him---then jumped up, turned around and was gone...I snapped this retreating image and like it better (grasses, flowers, action and the white fringe on the ears) than the more conventional frontal view photo. What do you think? C&C greatly encouraged and appreciated.

I am not sure about this one Katie. I can understand the reasoning behind your image creation, but I find myself thinking of the important "eye-contact" element of an animal photograph. I wonder though, whether I have become conditioned into a particular way of thinking and find it hard to see the meaning within an unconventional image? If anything, I would crop the dark intrusive element on the left.

Thanks for sharing and feel free to yell at me! :)

Hi Katie - good on you for trying something different - personally my eye cannot find anything to lockonto and hold my intrest in this shot.

    Keep them coming :)

    Hi Katie,
I like this very much...you captured Mother Nature at her best, applying her survival skills...:) The habitat and mood is good...this is reality...good show...the anchoring point and main element in this image are the deer's ultra sensitive ears...good show...keep them coming...

Hi Katie You can make a good image without eye contact or even going away but not getting the feeling here. I think the entire animal in frame going away could have worked. Exciting find !!!

Thanks guys, for looking and commenting---it's why I posted it and I appreciate the feedback. As Gus identified, the ears are the focal point for me and I like how the white fringe is echoed in the white flower. And Akos, I also don't like the dark line on the left, so thanks for giving me that advice. The image still speaks to me, but then, I was there. I'll keep it for myself as a memory of the trip.

Katie, I like the layers of grass and weeds-looks like 3D! the color rendition looks great-agree w/ black line-but I think it's an interesting perspective. I took an image of a moose looking thru the willows and posted it -everyone wished for better HA and no willow in his face-It remains my biggest seller to date! So you never know!!

I like this Katie, has a voyeur look to it and makes you wonder what this little guy is up to! Great focus right on the ears. Like all the OOF habitat too.

Katie, I love those ears! They really grab my attention, like the grass too..Not so fond of the black stick on the left. Different perspective that is interesting.

Feels like an out of the box image Katie. I like it because it's different. Glad that you posted it.

I'm different Katie - not sure that it works for me.
