I was lucky to catch this beauty as it took off, on board the Hooptie Deux. The wings remind of petals.

    Lucky?
I remember you being pre-focused and prepared for the take off. Not luck.
    Should read.
"I was prepared enough to catch this beauty as it took off, on board the Hooptie Deux."

I really like the symmetry of the wings, background, the feet are in the frame and the Spoonbill is dead sharp.

IMO if pull a little bit of yellow out of the image it would look closer to what we saw. However, remembering when photographing a scene, it should be what you want seen and not necessarily what you saw, this could be your artistic vision.

    Fabs:

Lovely shot, and the framing perfectly supports the title! James hit the technicals. I also like the slightly open bill. I might brighten it just a bit, I would like to see a bit more detail in the feet/legs, but obviously, the wings position is what makes the image for me.

I think this is a good example of: "the harder I work, the luckier I get"

    Cheers

Perfect symmetry in those wings Fabs, and what I really like in this, is that bill, with the way it has opened. Congrats on an amazing image Fabs.

Fabs lovely perspective in this image. The dark BG particularly accents the beautiful colour of the bird.

Very nice take-off Fabs. I like it and the double meaning is even more appealing. Love the sharpness. Gosh, it is sharp. :)
