Default grey heron - ardea cinerea

I would show you the wonderful wings from this heron. Picture taken in bochum, germany in the evening sunlight.

Nice topside view! I like the crest feathers fluttering in the breeze. I would push the exposure a little further to the right to bring out additional wing detail in the darks. And I'd probably trim a little off the right side of the image.

    Thank you, Doug!
Ok, the I will try to push the exposure.

But if I trim the right side the picture will loose the 3:2 format.
If I use this format and trim the right side there will be less(?) space below the heron. What do you think?

    And sorry for my english.

Lovely wingspread Jan, and showing detail from the top too. I agree with Doug to expose this a bit more. Comp wise, you could take of the left and right, and form a portrait crop, or you could take off the right, and add canvas to the left. Still, well captured.

Pretty nice! I agree with Doug's suggestions. As Stuart mentions you can crop at right and add at left to keep the 3:2 ratio. But you don't need to always stay "stuck" with that format though...you can crop just to the right as a 5:4 ratio, which is perfect for some print sizes (such 8 x 10 and 16 x 20).

    I like it a lot.

As mentioned exposure adjustment may improve. Consider also 'composition suggestions' that have been made.

Good Capture Jan you can be proud of this one!

Thank you all for your comments. I will try it in a 5:4 ratio and show you the result.

I am still in the search for a shot like this, in Argentina these birds get easily scared that it is very dificult to get a nice shot as this noe, great pose, light, detail and comp. Congratulaitons!
