I know this week's theme is flowers and, in an odd way, this applies. As many of you may already know I do a lot of wildflower images and post over in "Macro & Flora". Believe it or not, many of the wildflower images that I have posted over the past year were made in the lunar landscape that you see in this image. This area is referred to locally as "the cinder banks". It is truly an inhospitable area. Nothing should grow here... only weeds. Well as I have often said - one man's weeds are another man's wildflowers. From late Spring through Fall this area is loaded with many different species of wildflowers.

But at the moment, it is pretty desolate!

This is another HDR image from last evening. Please let me know what you think.

Ed, This should probably go into landscape images to get the best feedback for this type of image-however I love to see these HDR's so if you don't mind -I don't mind!! I'm hoping to get out this week and finally put together some of my own. I like the sky very much-the desolate feel to the image is good. I keep thinking if the image were flipped horizontally and the tree was on the other side it might have a better flow to it-But maybe not I'd have to see it. I do think you have an eye for this HDR and you have a good eye for bold colors -so I think this is a good fit for you. Looking forward to your next!!

Hard to believe this could have so many beautiful flowers. Interesting to say the least and thanks for showing us :)

Can't wait to see some of your wildflowers Ed. Do you know all their names? Wouldn't have known it was HDR! Does look pretty desolate.

Appreciate the comments, folks. Denise, I wasn't sure where to put this one. Since it was a three image combo done with Photomatix, I figure here would be as good as anyplace. But maybe next time, i will try landscape.

I've started to post some early wildflowers for that general area - Spring Beauty and Grape Hyacinth. I have a couple more that I will post over the next couple of days. I am able to identify most of them but sometimes I have to pour through the guidebooks. I really puzzled over one from this weekend until I was able to id it as a Siberian Squill! :D That one will pop up on the Flora board in a day or two.

Thanks Ed, I will head on over to see what you have posted! Siiberian Squill, that's a new one to me too.
