    Default Dunlin

Photographed on the Jersey shore a few days ago. They light was muted, which was good since I made this around 3:30 PM.

    Axel:

Lovely soft light, gives nice detail throughout. Sharp, good head angle, drip. I like the subtle waves OOF in the background. The moss/lichens add a pleasent couterpoint to the browns of the bird.

I am a little curious about the f stop. It worked great here, but is perhaps smaller than I would have chosen, esp. with the muted light. Just trying to learn here.

Thanks, Randy! I was quite close and wanted a bit wider DOF to have the head and at least one foot in focus. Just a matter of personal preference.

    Axel:

It obviously worked great. As always, the trade off of shutter speed vs. DOF and it was skillfully balanced here.

Great pose. Lovely color on those rocks and the drop of water make this even better. :)

Very nice Axel. I like the details, DOF, eye contact, water drop on teh bill and the green algae on the rocks.

DOF is just right and can even see a wee bit of eye color
and the water droplet is evident, but not overpowering

    nice one sir

    Hi Axel!

Very well done, with nothing to add to. I do like the head angle with the drop of water, nice detail.

Lovely low angle Axel, and love the droplet left at the tip of the beak. Excellent feather detail shown in this too, together with the soft colours in the BG. Congrats on a great image.

    Alex -

I would say you did well with the muted light. Nice capture.
