    Al,

Great BIF shot no shadows, how did you do that?. I have a 100-400 and cannot seem to get sharp images (could be loose nut behind camera).

Anyway, I am bringing it to the workshop with my Canon flash. Hopefully you can help me leverage its potential.

Jeff the lens is capable of making consistent sharp images and does AF well !! Will post some smaller/faster birds like oystercatchers. btw I use the center AF point most of the time with the 50D and Mk3.

For eliminating shadows you are looking for a specific light angle, sun at your back ... also having soft light or heavy overcast will help. Need to recognize the conditions suitable for making good images !!

    Hi Alfred,
Beautiful picture, the soft light works great here. I have a question for you. When using the 100-400, do you always shot wide open??
    Thank you

I like the "landing gear down" pose. The colors are good. Like you said, the 100-400 is a good lens if used correctly. Mine has been great for 5 years now.

Awesome wingspread Al. I really like the pose and the beautiful soft light here. Sounds like James is a bird magnet. :)
