Caught these dancers in a break in the action at Ding Darling today. They were putting on quite a show pretty close to shore. The data=f/11, 1/125, +1.0 ev, ISO 100 500mm. Thanks for looking, John

I like the soft light and great to have two in the frame. I would have gone to ISO 400 for higher shutter speed. The birds look a bit soft on my monitor, is this a heavy crop?

Thanks Alex. No, this is full frame no cropping. I was shooting 400 Iso all morning and my battery died. I replaced the battery and the camera went back to the default of Auto. I didn't realize it. It doesn't look soft on mine. Maybe more sharpening?

nice color John, looks a bit soft here too.
Did you maybe apply some noise reduction to the birds?
    That would give a smoothness

Yes, I would sharpen more. I'm sure this would improve it.

Hi John - agree with the need for some more sharpening - like the soft light and exposure looks pretty good - details in the blacks. Would also apply some NR to the background.
    keep em coming :)

John, I agree with the above comments. The head of the far bird in particular seems soft. Not sure, but think cropping some from the top might also improve it.

Hi John I find those birds difficult unless the light is right Something about the feather color?

There is some motion blur from the slow shutter speed, bummer on the battery. Do like the poses and attitude !!!

    Hi John,
I like the capture, and having two in frame looking in the same direction is a plus...I too agree that they need more selective sharpening...
