Default Snowy on Wood Pile ~ Very Cloudy Dawn

This was actually pre-dawn and it was very overcast and drizzling this morning.

I ready had to use a bit of EV compensation this morning....this was created with a Nikon D300, 500 VR, F6.4, ISO 1250, 1/40, VR ON, +2 EV compensation.

PS....I haven't a clue as to why the eyes are turning this orangy yellow. It's srgb, looks great on my monitor and looks perfect on my pbase and another site where I posted it???????

    Jim:

sharp, well exposed, killer eyes (even if color a bit unusual)

I like the perch overall, but might be tempted to crop up just enough to eliminate the sawn off area LLC.

Thanks for sharing. By the by, when will they be moving north?

    Default Interesting

They look fine in Firefox with Color Management enabled and they look pumpkin orange in IE8

Great find, exposure control and details. The eyes look fine in non-color managed Firefox and color-managed Safari. Maybe a bit more room at the bottom for the 'virtual' tail?

Beautiful Jim. This bird has an interesting feather pattern on her head and the staight on look shows it off well. I like the soft light. Eyes look fine, I use firefox.

Very nice eye contact. Love the sharpness :)
Looks like the bird is moulting what could the reason of the strange head pattern what Alex mentioned (however I might be wrong).

Beautiful image and the eyes look fine to me.

I would suggest trying to change the contrast a bit. Maybe something close to a Adjustment Layer Levels set 12/0.69/250 or close (I speak PS).

Excellent exposure, and great eye contact in this. I never get tired of these snowy's, as we dont get them here. Congrats Jim.

I think lovely shot all around too. Maybe a touch more at the bottom would be nice, but that's very minor, love the eye colours as is. Great exposure.
