This image is from our first trip to Florida looking for birds. It was taken before the sun rose and just before the full moon set. We cannot decide if we should clean the black specks out of the water. Birds are a new area for us and we would appreciate any feedback you may be able to give.
The image was taken at 200mm, +0.33 second, f5.2, ISO800. We would appreciate your thoughts on improvements. Thanks Jo and Phil
That is a fun one. Good exposure on the bird, nice water color, nice reflection.
If it were mine, I would remove the dark spots in and around the moon. I might select just the upper background and do a gaussian blur to downplay the spots. Cloning them all out would be a pain.
If you had the time to move a bit, it would have been fun to move left and right to see how the interaction of the moon, bird and reflection worked out. Your angle of view up and down is pretty much fixed if you want the best possible, most realistic reflection. Any lower and it becomes distorted.
I think the cropping is appropriate for this image.
