Super image, William! Everything you could want in a perched owl shot: great BG, perch and eye-contact. Just deal with that noise in the BG.
Scott
This is excellent. Great composition, perch, details and BG. I agree with Scott, the BG is quite noisy but this is easy to fix.
This is a goregous bird in on a gorgeous perch with a very nice but not perfect BKGR. (Ideally the lighter section would be at the top...)
The BKGR looks very noisy for ISO 320; was the original well underexposed? It would be easy to select the BKGR with the magic Wand, feather the selection 2 pixels, and then apply a 2-3 pixel Gaussian blur to smooth out the noise.
The sharpness and the beauty of the bird both make this a wonderful image.
later and love, artie
ps: The bird is Short-eared Owl.

I should hope that you would be happy with this one....it is really beautiful! The bird is sharp and just beautiful. Love the perch. Noise in the bg should be easy to take care of using Artie's instructions. Congratulations on this stunning image.
Thanks Artie it was shot at 400 ISO yes the back ground went real noisey im not sure how to deal with the noise but i will try your plan on that thanks again
Wow William, I can see why you are happy with this one. Everything has come together for you here - a magnificant portrait of the Short Ear Owl. Some attention to the BG noise would make it a winner!!
Its a beautiful shot. I don't think the BG is imperfect. The lower part blends into the branch and the upper BG merges with the owl head making the eyes more striking. That's how I see it.
Cheers
I removed the noise, doing something similar what Artie suggested. I used the 'reduce noise' tool in PS instead of Gaussian Blur.
Thanks Axel it looks a lot better i did what Artie said to do and got it printed tonight and it looks deadly i really thank u guys for the tips and help William
Gorgeous !!! Stunning image with a great pose and perch and wonderful detail. Axel's repost looks great with the noise removed. Congratulations on an awesome image William.
Big Difference with the noise reduction Thanks Axel !!! One Sweet bird Love the image !!! Big Congrats !!!
William great image of a species I'm still hoping to see. Axel's modified image makes your original even nicer. Well done.
Well done Brad awesome image. Everything came together on this one, subject,bg, close approach and a neat perch to boot. I know how much time and effort you have put in to get this great image. Persistance has paid off. Good on you!

wonderful image!! I like the bg tones as is, and the bird, pose, perch are fantastic.
Lovely shot of this owl and a nice perch (one can only hope for such a perch). Like the nosie reduction rework by Axel too.
This is gorgeous. I need to get up there!!
Congrats!!!
All are great!!!
That really is a great shot Brad as you told me earlier today. We both know the amount of time and effort it took to become a reality for you.
I don't think that I will be posting any of my images to this forum in the near future at least not until I can come up to some of the high standards of the other photographers on here.
Take care,
Steve
Welcome Steve. The best way to learn is to post. Check out our Eager to Learn Forum. In my very first and only photo course, we spent half of each session doing image critiques, and though the images were less than stellar, a ton of learning went on. And that was 24 years ago almost to the day.
