I photographed this drake hooded merganser on a foggy morning at Vierra Wetlands. 20D, 500 f/4, 1/500, f/8, ISO 400. Comments are welcome.

    Excellent capture Steve !!

I like the shadow detail and the whites are close to the edge but like them as presented. Great head angle and very sharp. Might have given the duck more room to include but its personal taste !!!

    Hi Steve!

Very nice and I can't add much to Alfred. Really nice head angle with head feathers all up. I would like to find one someday.

I'm about to start working these guys and hope to get one as nice as you have! My only thought is... did you also get this image with the reflection?

Hi Mike. The original does have more room at the bottom, but the ripples broke up the reflection pretty badly so I decided to crop most of it off. Good luck with your photo quest - I'll be looking forward to seeing your posts.

I think the fog worked best for an image of this bird. Very hard to expose for under normal conditions. This is one fine image.

I like the hairdo and pose, good detail, especially in the blacks.
