    This female just got done putting some nesting material in her nest box.
    I was in a blind about 5 feet away from the birdhouse.
    I noticed that a lot of other guys use shutter speeds of around 1/1000sec for birds that are just sitting on a perch. Why:confused:

    Camera: Canon 40D
    Lens: Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM
    Focal Length: 400mm
    Aperture: f/5.6
    Exposure Time: 1/250sec
    ISO: 100
    Flash: non
    Resolution: 950x760
    I used a mono pod

    Very sharp, and nice colors. It needs more room overall, and the OOF nest box is distracting

    Good sharpness on the face and eye. A faster SS would have stopped the motion blur of the foot. I would consider toning down or eliminating the band on the leg.

    Like the Depth of Field here. Box at the back is distracting - could easily be taken out.
    Great sharpness on the head of the bird! Well done
