This photo of the Great Egret was taken at Gatorland which is located in Orlando, Florida yesterday afternoon at about 3:00 pm. Below is the camera, settings, and lens I used. I did not use a tripod when I took this photo.
    Camera Nikon D200
    Lens - 70-200mm f2.8 VR
    ISO - 200
    Speed 1/400 sec
    f-stop - f-5.6
    Equiv focal length - 165mm

I used Lighrroom - to crop the photo and Photoshop CS3 to enhance the reflection and tonal range.

I would appreciate critiques on this photo.

    Thanks, ADubin

I like the details on the feathers of the bird and the dark surroundings work for me.

Is the reflection of another bird above this birde as there are some differences in the pose and feathers

I really like the mood, setting, pose and reflection in this one and would only sharpen the bird more.

Reflections do look a little different as the light is following a different path so giving a different angle of view of the bird.
I like the pose - the thing that disturbs me is that the reflection isn't below the bird but significant rotated - hard to see the water surface but the reflection of the eye or bill tip should be vertically below the eye or bill tip

    Nicely done!

I believe that's a Snowy Egret though, not a Great Egret.

Nice image. I like the way you held the whites with the dark BG.

BTW, my understanding is that a yellow beak and dark legs/feet it is a Great Egret.

Definitely a Great Egret. Image is a tad soft and a dark for me, some fill flash would have been good here. Good job Arnold!
