    Default Goldfinch amongst the Coneflowers

Taken last August back in my garden. It was really an afterthought of what I was doing, I was happy to get it nontheless. :)

Looks very good, the yellows are nicely exposed. I might give it more room at the bottom to include the complete flower on the left. The catchlight is quite low. Did you use flash?

i love the environment here!! really cool with the extra flowers. a little extra on the bottom to include the entire flower on the left corner would be perfect!

I really like the portrait. Too bad the frontal part of the head blends into the dark background. Flowers and bird are nicely exposed.

Another striking image, Mike. My minor comments have already been mentioned above - the clipped flower in the LLC, the dark background blending with the bird's head, and the eye that appears to have multiple catchlights. A little tweaking would likely take care of those issues. Another possible presentation might be to remove the 2 flowers on the left and crop it as a vertical if you have enough pixels to work with.

I would only try to lighten the BG a bit, but other than that, I think it is a lovely scene and a great shot. COngratulaitons!

Lovely enviromental image Mike, and I like the colours in this. I feel the darker BG works, as it makes the subject stand out much better. Well captured.

Love the inclusion of the flowers in the image! Lovely composition.
Agree on the lightening up of the bg.
