The head markings look like Rufous-crowned Sparrow. The belly and throat should be much lighter than your photo shows though:confused:. It might be a very dark morph Rufous-CR. or a hybrid with Black-chinned Sparrow:p. My .02.
Hi Chas...I think Dan hit it on the nose, when he suggested Rufous-Crowned Sparrow, the location is definately in their range, I adjusted the image a bit....to get the colors to show more...
