    Default GHO before nesting

This is one was captured in December before they went to nest. The mate was not so cooperative and no image were captured of it.

I just love the natural camouflage of owls! I think you captured a nice habitat image showing off the home! I like the leading line of the branch off of the back side of the owl. And the ears blowing in the cold wind, I can relate to that here in Maine. The owl has the hunkered down look and trying to stay warm. I think the branches as a whole frame the bird and the oof background fade properly. The eyes do have a flashed look to me, but not to to bad. Nice catch light. The one branch to the left side of the bird does end rather abruptly. And the breast does seem soft. But I would take this one in a heart beat. Very nice over all.

A bit tight, but very nice IMHO. Lovely plumage details. Love the neutral colors as well. Thanks for sharing.

Apart from being too tight in the frame I like this (I would have preferred more room at bottom and to a lesser degree at left also). I like the many close criss-crossing twigs, but not so much the distant OOF ones. The hint of snow is nice too. You could liven the colour of the irises as the yellows in them seem rather muted and dull. Beautiful subject for sure!

    Daniel -
    Laughing out loud here!

That was probably one of the best "critiques" I have ever received. The laugh I got from this was "for a whole month"!! You made my day! Thank You!

PS. I do read the replies to my posts. If that was a "Test" - Did I pass?

When you said "irises" I was thinking "flowers". LOL

Do you think "the one branch" that you mention goes behind the bird?

You gave a very good critique IMO. I had to study it but it was good in brining out pros and cons. thanks.
