Western Meadowlark shot today. I shot about 100 frames to get a couple decent shots. PP'ed in ACR and CS3. This one is a big crop, houses in BG were minimized with some color adjustments and Noise Ninja. Selectively sharpened with Nik Sharpener Pro.

    Camera Model: NIKON D300
    Shutter speed: 1/2000 sec
    Aperture: 5.6
    Exposure mode: Manual
    Flash: Off
    Metering mode: Multi-segment
    ISO: 400
    Lens: VR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D
    Focal length: 400mm
    VR Image Stabilization: On
    AF mode: AF-C

Its is a good pose and like the bg Only wish the lighter part was not there. Good eye contact and overall feel. Just need to get them larger in frame !!! Doing well !!!

Like the pose and flight action a lot.
I like what you did with the BG, but
I'm not sure about the contrast between
the smooth BG and the bird.
You did quite well considering the difficulty
    of the task.

    Cheers, Ilija

Hi Dan - like the inflight wingspread, good head angle and exposure looks good.

Agree with AL on the lighter part of the BG - but sometimes you just gotta take what you are given.
Looking forward to seeing more :)
