one from anhinga trail with al and fabs this afternoon. action was kinda slow, but we managed a few!!

D300, bigma at 370mm, f/6.3, 1/400s, +0.3EV, ISO 800, flash fill no beamer at +2.0EV. fairly large crop with a little sharpening and noise reduction on the bg.

thanks for looking. comments and critiques are appreciated.

Great portrait and BG. I would crop it as a vertical, tone down the highlights more and wish the DOF were wider.

Harold, I like this very much-has a real cute factor!! The DOF is fine with me, I think it creates interest, agree w/ Axel on toning down the highlights. I would love to have this image in my collection!!

    Hi Harold,
I agree with Axel on everything but the DOF. I like it as presented.

I would also go for more of a vertical too. Great expression you capture H.

    Doctor,
I like it as presented, it goes against the flow, and is unconventional; a vertical composition would be the accepted norm, but some times its good to push the envelope...:D The eyes do it for me here...they are razor sharp and are dead on in your face...good show...

    Hi,

A vertical vote from me. Held up well if a big crop! Love the selective focus, but I do prefer a bit more dof. Well done! :)

    My Dear good Doctor,
An excellent surgeon is always thinking out side of the box, always pushing the envelope of conventionality, always looking for new ways to do things...and never looks back...you can do it...you have the eye...I'm proud of you :D

Well Harold, I like the landscape comp because the negative space says I'm alone and lost...

Cute shot, Harold! Love the shallow DOF, and I prefer the vertical. Good job!
