I made a curves adjustment to lighten up this one as it seemed to dark. What do you think? I do like your placement in the frame and the spring in his step.

Nice timing. Due to his proximity to the left edge of the frame, I think this would work better as a vertical. It would also emphasize the launch and eliminate the empty space on the right and the leading edge of the BG rock which takes my eye up and out of the pic.

Very nice capture. Caught at the right moment, tack sharp, and the shallow DoF works nicely
to pull the cat away from the background. I would take that a step further by masking out
puma and adjusting levels on that separate from the background, and also darken the
    background just a bit. Example:

An oustanding capture Tom. Your image is pin sharp, and agree that a bit more exposure would help as shown by David. Comp wise, I would maybe move him to the right a bit. Still, very well captured Tom.

Thank you all for your kind comments and suggestions. I have done the following re-edit:

which I consider has addressed some of your suggestions. The shot was taken on a very wet and overcast day and I have tried to retain a sense of that in the re-edit.

Great action. I like the second re post best. I also agree with the vertical suggestion. While I feel the image is sharp, to me the face could use a bit more sharpening.

I like your edit better than the original but I was thinking even tighter on the vertical. Let me know if you'd like me to delete the image.

Hey Steve...IMHO I think you nailed it.The way you balanced the lighting is very nice. I also like the crop that Tom came up with. Generally you should have more room in the direction the subject is facing

Like the crop Steve, if I'm quite honest, I felt if I went that tight on the RH I would be getting comments along the lines of 'too tight' or 'needs some room to breathe' I however do think that the tones in your edit reflect more of sunny Colorado than a wet and overcast day in the UK. :D

No problems with you leaving the image in the thread.

Thanks for your comments Dave - much appreciated. In principle I very much agree about more space on the LH, in this instance there is a man made structure hence why this LH crop was used.

I didn't even realize that I edited your lighting. Must've been a subconscious thing as I was dreaming this was my image captured in the mountains of Colorado :).

    Tom,
I agree with Steve's crop suggestion. It would be awesome clicking it in the wild.

Thank you for commenting Sabyasachi - much valued and appreciated. I agree it would be a awesome shot in the wild. However, as I was only 20 ft away from from this one, if this was in the wild I don't think I would holding the camera steady as I would be concentrating more on my exit strategy :D
