Not being a birding expert, I have no idea what bird this is, except beautiful. I photographed this image in Animal Kingdom in Orlando with my Canon 50D. ISO 400, f/4.0, 1/160 sec, EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM +1.4x extender, 392mm, ( 627mm), evaluative metering, auto exposure, auto WB, no flash.
It is a Golden-breasted/Yellow-breasted Starling or sometimes called a Royal Starling native to northeastern Africa.
As for the picture - I like it. The comp is good and the eye is nice and clear. The biggest problem I see is the background. The three branches and tree in the BG a pretty distracting and I would've liked to see a darker background. I would maybe tone down the blues in the wing a bit, too. What a beautiful bird, hope to see more of him (or her).
Mr. Waas,
Congratulations on a fine capture...the details and color rendition on the bird are superb...the background is what it is...:D:cool: good show...
