    Not being a birding expert, I have no idea what bird this is, except beautiful. I photographed this image in Animal Kingdom in Orlando with my Canon 50D. ISO 400, f/4.0, 1/160 sec, EF70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM +1.4x extender, 392mm, ( 627mm), evaluative metering, auto exposure, auto WB, no flash.

    It is a Golden-breasted/Yellow-breasted Starling or sometimes called a Royal Starling native to northeastern Africa.

    As for the picture - I like it. The comp is good and the eye is nice and clear. The biggest problem I see is the background. The three branches and tree in the BG a pretty distracting and I would've liked to see a darker background. I would maybe tone down the blues in the wing a bit, too. What a beautiful bird, hope to see more of him (or her).

    Richard, Ya it's a busy BG but your bird just pops off the page!! The colors are really vibrant and thankyou for sharing. I love Animal Kingdom!!

    Hi Richard - stuning bird - lovely colours and sharp - not much you could do about the BG - always limited in these places :)

    Busy BG, but that is how it was. The bird is gorgeous and your rendition is very fine too. :)

    Excellent capture for the conditions Richard Just the light colored bg is detracting form the fine bird !!! Did real well at that slow ss !!!
