    Default White-necked Jacobin (Costa Rica)

I have been daydreaming about the tropics a lot lately. Unfortunately it will be a while before I can get down there again. To ease my urge I decided to re-process some of my old Costa stuff. Here is one from the famous Rancho Naturalista - a fantastic place for hummingbirds.

    Camera Model: Canon EOS 10D
    Shutter speed: 1/60 sec
    Aperture: 5.6
    Exposure compensation: -2/3
    Flash: On @ -1 1/3
    ISO: 400
    Lens: 300mm f/2.8 + 2x

Great find, details and BG. Maybe a bit more room, it's quite big in the frame. I'd love to go to Costa Rica sometime, too.

Hi Glenn. Nice shot of a beautiful hummer. I like the up close and personal crop. Where exactly is the Rancho Naturalista? I'll be returning to Costa Rica in a couple of weeks and might want to pay them a visit.

I agree with Axel about it feeling a little tight, and going to Costa Rica ;) Great looking background, and the detail in the image is excellent.

    Glenn -
very nicely done. excellent pose and great flash control to maintain natural looking colors and sharpness
given this was probably taken at the forest feeders - not much chance to improve DOF on the bird's tail
only other minor nit - might clean up catch light/reflections in the eye
easy to see why one would want to return
