    Default Phoebe

It's been a while since I posted any bird photos, so here's shot of a phoebe that I took last year. I removed a shadow that was across the bird's back. Do you think I did a good job? Any C&C are welcome!

    Olympus SP-550 UZ
    f4,5 @ 1/400, ISO 100, -0.3 EV
Program mode, spot metering(I know spot metering isn't the best metering mode to use, but this was taken before I knew that), auto WB
Processed in PS CS2; cropped, curves adjustment, S/H, saturation increase, noise reduction, cloned out a branch that merged with the bird, and removed shadow

Hi Chris - You have a god head angle and a sharp eye - exposure looks good. With these diagonal perches always best to keep them out of the corners - feels a little tight to me.
The area on the back looks a little weird - not enough detail.

Al l up good job with a Point and shoot. :)

Agree with Lance Great points !!!

Didn't do bad with PS There is an area with little detail Not sure what method you used but quick mask seems to be the most natural (if applicable).

Thanks for the advice. Lance, I cropped it like this to get rid of two OOF branches in the ULC and LRC. Here is the original, uncropped shot. How would you suggest cropping?

Alfred, I used a whole variety of tools to remove the shadow including curves, selective color, and clone stamp. I'll try redoing it and hopefully have more detail.

    Christopher,
Thanks very much for posting the original. I'd say you did well in recognizing there was a very nice image just waiting for you to bring it out.

Great PS work Chris. Excellent eye contact and details.
