This little guy was sleeping on a branch while both his parents watched on, this is a fallen tree. There is two sets of these baby owls in the swamp, if you can find them. For any one that may be interested we are have our feeding frenzy going on now at Corkscrew. The last of the water brings in allot of birds and gators to finish the fish off. It will only last a couple of days until the water is totally cleaned out. We still have nice back grounds, in a couple of days every thing will get black as the birds and gator trample down the lettuce at the lakes.
Nice find, this guy was really hiding out! Although I dont mind the foliage in front of the owlet I do wish the tip of the bill was visible and the right eye unobstructed. Probably not much you could have done there except hope the owlet moved its head a bit :-) Was the seeming vignetting added by you, or a result of shadows being cast by the flash?
Daniel I have several shots of the little guy showing the eyes and beak, I chose this one because he is smuggled into the resurrection ferns and the fact he is laying down on his belly sleeping at mid day. Thanks Rod
Cute as can be. If you could have moved about 8 inches to your left you might have gotten the eye out from behind the fern.

Love it! Great and cute natural secene, I love the detail, the light, the BG, ambient and atitude of the chick, regarding Artie's comment although it could look better with both eyes uncovered, IMHO the eye being covered by the fern tells us how the chick wants to be as hidden as possible :)
Congratualitons!
