The curves of the mound (composition overall), the vegetation, the details, the soft light, the eye contact, the BG and the subtle falling snow. All add up to a wondrous image!

    Hi Guy,
Love the feel of this! Makes me shiver a bit when I look at it as you can tell it was cold out. Some might say that the framing is a bit tight but I really like it that way on this image. Another thing that jumps out at me is how clean and detailed the image is. IMHO this would make an excellent addition in large format to someone's wall. Good Job!

I love this one--one of the best imo. Great job on the exposure and composition. There are a couple of white spots in the sky--I might be tempted to remove them.
    Just beautiful.

I guess the white spots are snowflakes :)
This is a wonderful virgin image. Very nice eye contact and bg. In this condition this is a superb image.

This is a very striking image.
The dry grass adds a lot to the composition, which is excellent to begin with.

Quite nice Guy, the setting is a winner indeed, I would have removed the spots, tried to leave a bit more on the bottom and take a little off the left side and tried to lighten the Snowy's left eye (or right eye looking at the owl) a bit. Was any bait being used?

    Thank everybody for the comments.

The white spots are snowflakes as mentioned by Szimi.
The spot in the eye is the white point caused by the sun that pierces the clouds slightly.
    Yes, bait was used.

Very well done Guy. I agree the dry grasses add alot to the image. Great pose and composition. I'd also be tempted to remove the snowflakes as they are not of big enough impact to the image to keep IMO.

My first thought when looking at this picture was to add a few more snowflakes to give the picture a bit more impact. At least you could experiment with more snowflakes..or with none at all. If there's no harm in removing, I can't imagine there's any more harm in adding. I also thought a bit more room was needed at the top. The grasses, as well as their movement, are a huge plus to this image. Thank you for sharing this lovely photograph.

Perfect. Change nothing. The snow flakes in the BG might be distracting for purists but, I'd leave them-added chill factor and mood.
