Paddling in kayak in flooded dark water swamp in Marion Co,SC came across this Red bellied Watersnake. The kayak allowed me to position myself for different angles all handheld with Canon 100-400 mm.

Very nice Charles, sharp where it counts and the reflection adds some interest.

This one was interesting for me to view. I saw 3 different comps in this. Although that's a pretty cool looking snake, for some reason I actually prefer this with just the reflection. A pano version of just the snake and branch without the reflection works for me too. I think its because to my eye, there's too much competition between the snake and the reflection.

I alos see this one as a horizontal and wish the water was cleaner for the reflection to really work.

Charles, thanks for posting. What type of snake is that? I live up in Rock Hill, SC and have been wanting to get down that way. I would particularly like to go to Congaree and Lake Marion. Any experience there?

    Thanks,
    Colin

    Chuck,

I can go with either the pano of the snake or how you presented it. Very cool looking snake and I like the opposing curve of snake and the stick.
