I had photographed this Great Blue Heron in August last year at the Sunnyvale Baylands. This was taken through bulrush using a Sigma 50-500mm f/4-6.3 EX DG HSM and Canon 300D. The settings were ISO 200, 1/2000 @ f6.3 with exposure bias -1. Would like to get your comments on the crop as well as any other thoughts on if this can be improved.
Nice composition. First thing I noticed is subject is not parallel to film plane. some thing having a little angle kind of helps to define shadows but I dont see that in this case. May be move a little bit to the right or wait for the head turn provides an opportunity to get parallel to film plane.
Looks like there is some un even light conditions and neck looks darker than head. may be little bit of post processing to take care of this?
Sid, thanks for your comments. Uneven light on the neck is caused by the bulrush stem between the lens and the subject (you can see the greenish tinge). I will fix it.
