Taken last weekend by the Magog river. There were many ring billed gulls and I had a great time practicing flight images. There was a lot of action, screaming and some fighting. The accentuated reds in the lining of his mouth and around the eye lead me to guess that this is breeding plumage. I would be interested if someone could confirm this. I love the wide open bill coupled with his landing pose. Your opinions are appreciated.

    Joel:

The open mouth, bright red and sharpness are great. I like the compostion.

Really, my only negative would be on the lighting. On one hand, I really like that the lighting highlights the birds head, which is the subject of interest here, but I am vaguely bothered by the darkness of the wings and the uneven lighting in the background.

Will be interested in others opinions on that point.
    Thanks for sharing.

The pose and open bill are great. The light is a bit harsh and the shadows look a bit blue. I would sharpen the bird a bit more.
