King Ranch Spring Birding Day

Hi all, I will be doing a week in and around the Rio Grande area of Texas in early April and have been considering taking in one of the special Spring Birding all day tours at the King Ranch.
I wonder if it's worth my expense however as I don't want to spend the whole time on a tour bus.
Has anyone taken in one of these events at the King Ranch and are there quality photo opportunities to be had or should I even bother?
