    I probably should have gotten my SS up higher.
    I know it looks similar to my other posts but I'm trying to sort out keepers from my trip-and you all have been most helpful.Thankyou

    Higher shutter speed would have helped but ISO 800 might have resulted in a rather noisy image. I like the dynamic pose and eye contact and would sharpen the head more. Wing/bill separation would have made it even better.

    Agree with Axel on all points btw for these I normally go wide open to minimize the bg !! I like the pose and determined look !!!

    Agree on the previous comment and although I'm not easily distracted, the green OOF leaf in the foreground does not work for me in this case.

    I like the true-blue plumage unlike our drabber gray herons here in CA. Water drops add a nice element to the action.
