First Post  Just looking to get better. This is one of the hardest things I have ever done...
This was shot at Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge. I shot it while leaning out of the passenger window from the drivers seat. That hand brake really hurts!. I started to frame the shot then realized I forgot to turn off the engine. :-)
Olympus E-3 150mmf2 lens with EC-20 extender. (300 mm) ISO 400 @ f4 1.800 sec
I removed some branches on the right edge of the picture. I realize it's back lit and parts of the legs are blown out. Not really digging the shadows on the neck...
Love that reflection - agree with your self assement - always best to have the sun at your back under normal circumstances. This will also solve the shadow problem.
Feels a little tight on the left hand side and would have liked to see the complete circle of ripples on the right hand side.
Hi Ned,
I like the image and capture...agree with Mr. Peters on his assessment. I also feel that you should give him more space in the tail area...looking forward to your next one...
.. next will be a piece of cake :) .. this is not bad at all !!!
Agree with suggestions .... is this a natural vertical? Would not look bad as a horizontal either, seeing the complete water circles would add to the image.
Tough shooting from a car so when you find a bird in good sun angle work him hard !!!! Looking forward to the next one !!!
Big welcome, Ned! You have a lovely reflection and great color...personally, I like sidelight but then you usually get the shadows. Great suggestions here and looking forward to seeing more.
