    Default Greeting the Sunrise

Image created in the Masi Mara, Kenya. These Hyena pups emerged from their den just as the sun rose, some time prior to their parents, seemingly to greet the new day. We learned, over our three Kenya Safaris what caring and nurturing parents Hyenas are. It dramatically changed our feelings about Hyenas. Hope you like my image. C and C welcome, I'm here to learn. - John

    John,
Almost cute! ;-) Very nice image. But I have a different view of these animals. Regardless of their parenting skills, they are brutal killing machines. And brutal needs to be emphasized.

    John,

I am guessing that you blurred the background. If so I notice a strange look around their outlines. My preference is I would rather see the original. If I am wrong - sorry.

I do like the light they are in and the pose.

Hi Robert, once again, I greatly appreciate you commentary. I actually "Quick Mask" selected the pups and foreground, inverted, feathered the edge 3 points and then darkened the bg using curves. Attached is a "naked" CR2 image. Nothing done, not even Levels. Obviously I had done some other tweaks to the first post. Thanks again. - John

Lovely image of these two youngsters in early light, John. Killing machines they are-but the predators life is a dangerous existence. Peter's repost looks quite nice.

The original posting had an "odd" feeling to it the subjects looked seperated from the background.
Nevertheless a stunning image, they look cute when young and are certainly not ugly when adult.

Wonderful image John, brutal killers to be or not. I can say, Hyenas are not my faves, but these little fellows look almost cute enough for a cuddle! :) The pup on the left seems just a teeny bit softer. Yet the image is still very powerful (cute).
