Default Brown Teal : Anas chlorotis

This picture of an endangered Brown Teal was taken at the local wildlife reserve.
This bird is rare in the wild but fortunately breeds well in activity.
Photo was taken behind glass and wire netting (Not my ideal choice for bird pix !!) yesterday.
Fortunately the sun was in a good quadrant which helps a lot.
Unlike it's close cousin the Campbell Island Teal this little duck does fly but unfortunately released birds are often taken by wandering cats.

Taken with Pentax K10D and Tamron 70-300 at 2.06PM.
    39% crop. Spot metered. 1/1500 sec @ F5.6 AV. 400 ISO. Minus 0.5 EV.

You did a nice job getting this behind glass & wire. I like the pose and the "spotlight" on the head. I guess if there was any nit it would be the blade of grass running up the side.

Worth cloning the grass up front Very intimate look and excellent details !!! Might try blurring the bg a bit !!
