    This is a great example as to when to use fill flash to fill those small shadow. Great details and very sharp!

    This is a great example of when not to use fill flash; it is the shadows that add the texture and give the image a sculpted look. You might wish to lighten the shaded portion of the iris.

    Thanks for the comments. I worked on the eye and reposted. I found a couple of subtle (10%) applications of the dodge tool (CS4) worked well to lighten the shadow without completely removing it. Before and after above.

    I like this as posted, nice detail, and exposure. Agree with Arthur about the shadows.
