    Default Red Shouldered Hawk

An image that was taken a while back. Was going through archives and came accross this.

Self critique: The BG is a mountain in the distance that winds up being nicely mottled from 500mm compression. The perch is not ideal, but what is a persone to do, I don't get to choose the perch. A little PP was done on perch to knock down the highlight a little and a mask was used to bring out the detail in the eye. The rest of the image is acceptable, as is.

    EXIF:
    Camera: Canon 30D
    Lense: Canon EF 500 IS L; 4.0 + 1.4 T/C; effective focal length 700mm
    Mode: Apeture priority
    Metering: Pattern
    ISO: 250
    White bal: custom 5200K
    Exposure: 1/1600 @ f9.0: -.66 comp in camera : fill flash -.33 comp.

    Feel free ;)

I like the detail and the BG a lot. I don't have a problem with the perch...it is kind of interesting. Nice work on this one.

Very nice portrait. The only thing I would consider doing is cloning out the dark blue in the upper right corner.

One of the best of this bird I have seen in a long time. Love it as is.

I like the bird and the perch. The Florida birds do not look like that! The only thing that bugs mem is the rather steep angle of inclination.
