    I like the setting, details, exposure control and composition. The flying piece adds to it. The lines in the BG don't bother me.

    Good catch! I don't find the BG too distracting, but I can see how others might. It wouldn't bee too hard to minimize the transition lines between the light and dark areas though.

    A lovely composition Caroline - Love the arching flower-head and the dislodged piece caught mid-flight!!
    Very sharp image showing good feather detail. The BG is fine with me - actually it creates a rather non-intrusive pattern of some interest.

    Caroline this is sublime. The curved line anchors the composition, the OOF background with the suggestion of diagonal lines complements the diagonal line of the perch and the superb sharpness and feather details round it perfectly off.
