Try cutting the contrast back a bit and I believe you will improve an already neat image.

#1: You are one of the many this afternoon under arrest by the H-A-P. (Head Angle Police).

#2: All that negative space behind and above the bird drwas the viewers eye from the subject... Working in horizontal format would most likely have helped.

#3: I like the light and the leaves but not the little branch pointing at the bird's neck.

Very pretty pastel colors in the background & getting the bird singing is a plus. I'm not familiar with the 20D, can you set the contrast to low in the camera? I find it helps a lot in bright light with birds that have white highlights. The branch going through the top of the head is a little distracting. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Bill, this nice little chap would have more impact in a horizontal format for me thereby eliminating some of the dead space top RHS. If your ethics permit it, cloning out the stick pointing at the head would further enhance the composition. Keep them coming!!

ahhhhhhhhhhh! :) The full frame is a horizontal. I will rework and repost and clean up the twigs. Thanks you guys, I'm learning. BUT, Artie I thought the head angle, being a profile, was what you wanted????
