    Motif: Landscapes – “The Palisades”

Note: circa 2005. – Fort Tyron Park, New York City

This is a panoramic view of the famous Palisades in New Jersey as seen from Fort Tyron Park on the Manhattan side of the Hudson River.

This was taken late afternoon around 4:00p.m.

The image was painted with a Nikon F100, 35mm film camera, using a Nikkor 20mm f/2.8D AF lens. The negative was scanned into digital jpeg format.

    Comments greatly appreciated...

Very nice composition and colors! The framing of the trees reminds me of a Maxfield Parrish work. The different planes give it nice dimensionality and the spot of red makes a great visual anchor. Love it!

Beautiful, Gus! I second all the others about color and depth, but this one gets an A+
for composition -- the intriguing balance between the three trees, the three benches,
and the lone person. Super work. ;)

    Hi Gus,
Looks like you captured the afternoon haze very well. As mentioned above.....this had a very nice feel to it with the use of the layers and you included just enough of the sky and trees to make it work. I did explore cropping the branch coming in from the left.....with a crop just past the 2nd post of the middle ground bench......did seem to strenghten it for my tastes......but not sure it has that significant of an impact to improve on what you presented. Either way.....very nicely composed!
